This year has brought out some major difficulties to the entire travel industry, both for leisure and business travel. There are sure to be still changes coming but will all of them be bad? In my opinion, not necessarily. There has been a travel boom in the past several years, and now this “new normal” has made some changes to that.
I know this topic is a bit controversial, but that’s why I want to write about it. Some people say it won’t be okay to travel for a long time, whereas others say that everything will go back to normal soon. What is the new normal? Traveling might spread viruses more, but then again, so does taking the train from place A to place B in the home city. It is something that we will have to find a balance between. When you take care of yourself, you will also take care of others.
When it comes to prices, there are definitely going to be some differences. Many airlines and hotels have faced bankruptcy and financial difficulties worldwide—some more than others. The rest that are still out there and operating have to regain the losses somehow and understandably so. And the question that is probably in many people’s mind is: when will there be the opportunity to travel freely again?
It will take some time for the travel industry to recover fully. There will be flights operating, but also, many flights canceled. Some countries might even keep the quarantine restrictions for a longer period of time, so keep this in mind. I know this sounds heartbreaking for people with a wanderlust heart; it does for me. We have to stay optimistic and think it is just a phase. It will change things, but it also might bring out a lot of new, good things.

What comes to making plans for travels, I would keep it simple and flexible. There’s just no way of knowing what will happen even within a short period of time. So, being spontaneous and open to all the possibilities will definitely help. Anything can happen, literally. Do your research on the city or country you’re going to and forget about multiple-city hop-overs. Those days are gone for now!
There are numerous countries whose people and economy depend on tourism, and it is so unfortunate in this situation. The world has been facing a huge travel boom in the past years, and now it has stopped almost entirely. The world needs traveling, and many people live on that too. This pandemic was a wake-up call in a way. We need to start taking responsibility when traveling. We need to take care of the planet earth. The world, and its beautiful treasures, are there waiting to be discovered again with brand new eyes.
